Road crashes are one of the leading causes of death for our young people under the age of 25. The day a young driver gains their provisional license their crash rate increases 20 to 30 times.

What happens at a Street Smart High event?
Street Smart High is open to students in years 10, 11 & 12 across the Northern Territory, and attendance is free.
On the day, students will:
- witness a simulated crash scene, including pre-and-post-crash analysis;
- hear from people whose lives have been affected by road trauma
- interact with leading community, Territory Government Police, Fire and Ambulance personnel and industry organisations and programs that aim to keep young people safe
- learn road safety skills and knowledge.

How Operational Excellence Insurance’s ‘Free Pass card’ works:
Getting home safety can be a big issue for teenagers, and they often put themselves in risky situations because they don’t know who to call or they’re afraid they’ll get in trouble.
To help, Operational Excellence Insurance has developed Free Pass Cards, which is a 'contract' between a beginner driver and a designated driver (their parents, for example).
The idea is for teenagers to sit down and talk about to do if they're in a risky situation and worried about getting home safely, like if a their planned designated driver's been drinking.
The designated driver can sign the card, which gives the teenager a free ride home, no questions asked.
